blue jean

...that's this guy, according to Norah:
Yesterday Norah said she wanted to marry a prince, and since we had some princess books lying around I showed her pictures of Aladdin (as Ali), Prince Eric, and the Beast (as a prince after his transformation). I asked her which prince she would choose, and she picked the Beast/Prince, lol! Then she asked me which prince I would marry, and I said I already married my prince: her Papa.

My blue-eyed nephew Ryott Daniel turned 2 on 2/22. I made him a mohawk hat to match his Tanka (who has a real 'hawk). Ry just so happened to wear a shirt that matched perfectly. Rockin'.

we can only imagine

...the thoughts of a three year old. I keep trying to imagine what transpired while I was out cleaning in the garage while I thought Norah was napping. I came in to find she had been partying hard before she passed out. She had managed to sneak downstairs and squirrel a left-over pb&j and not one, but TWO cans of pop (both open, neither empty).

Norah's possible mental conversations?

"Hmm, I think I will be pretty thirsty. Better bring TWO cans."

Or maybe she made separate trips for each can:

"What?? Diet?! Too bad I can't read yet. Better go back for the good stuff."

Did she plan to share with company that we didn't know about? Or,

"I can't remember if I took a can of pop up on my last trip - I better bring this one up just in case."

Maybe she's fully my daughter, and didn't want to waste a trip upstairs with one whole hand empty... in which case I imagine she carried the sandwich in her mouth.

the state of denmark, er, minnesota

here we are beginning week 6 of 16, and i've fallen prey to a virus with a vendetta. throwing my to-do list out the window, and sleeping, sleeping, drinking liberal doses of vitamin C, and sleeping. in jammies on the couch.

norah has also contracted the same cold, but she accomplishes her to-do list with exasperating ease. which list includes:
  • helping herself to things from the fridge
  • asking 427.5 questions each day
  • pulling all the cushions off all the couches
  • strewing toys everywhere, and then saying she's playing with ALL of them
  • asking for snacks 19 times per hour ("eating treats")
  • the activities previously chronicled in comic form
  • going outside without boots, coat, hat, or permission
  • refusing to finish carefully prepared foods like toast with jam, and then asking for "dessert" less than five minutes later
  • asking to paint/playdough/other supervision-requiring craft ten minutes into Lady and the Tramp
  • throwing a tantrum when her mother won't let her "watch" another dvd
  • waking up before her mom can summon the coherence to crawl out of bed
  • not taking a nap
  • still trying to sneak out of bed when i'm drifting off at a very late hour (HOW can she thrive on so little sleep???)

but please, don't get the wrong idea about my daughter; the rest of the time she's an angel.

i am full of imperfection when it comes to parenting (patience). mainly this is just setting all of it down so that i can look back upon it fondly (right??). oh blessed day when i can once more be on even-par with her energy-wise! oh day when she gets Papa-Time on a regular basis again.
