Yesterday blogger wouldn't let me upload photos, so if you want to see those check out my album the tide of time - today it let me, so here's a little Iowa Family Farm for you.

thundrous applause

Maybe Minnesota heard me? Thunderstorming out this very minute! Reading Hunger Games now even though I don't like the writing style. The wind blew my laundry dry in no time this morning, and I'm worn out from raking about half of the leaves still left from last fall. I don't mind having the most leaves in the neighborhood collect in my yard - it's a small price to pay to get to live in the Midwest, even if winter does snub you.

winter savings

I delight in every season, and I pity anyone whose pleasure is less. This year I was gypped out of winter and instead given an extra half of fall and an extra half of spring. I'm calling it "Winter Savings Time" and I hope to get double snow next year. That means at least 100 inches. Watch out, people.

Actually, "spring" - though the first day is not until March 20th - is more like summer this year. Eighty degrees several days this past week. I'm half expecting to hear cicadas trilling. Even if I don't get the brilliant thunderstorms I'm dreaming of during the next six months, I will delight in sticky camping trips and sweaty farmers markets and I will plug my ears to unavoidable complaints. I have a wonderful home (in which I will live without air conditioning), an imaginative daughter, and a hard studying/working husband who will be back to a mere 40-hour-week in seven short weeks! I have several dozen projects to keep me satiated, and I will try to share them when I can.

a world about to dawn

For only the 2nd time in my life I've been able to attend a cousin's wedding! Back in 1998 I got to go to a wedding in Oklahoma by God's grace, and yesterday Jonas married Andrea in Ames, Iowa. You might think from the simplicity of my own wedding that I don't enjoy them, but it has merely been location that has prevented me from the rest. Hoping to attend at least two more friends' nuptials later this year.

The three of us happened to wear red and black, the wedding colors.
Coincidence? I think not...

"Just act natural."

Silliness :)

"That's a cross, where Jesus died. He died right there. Right over there."

She says this as if it happened in our living room.
